p.1 #1 · Oregon

Last year I visited Oregon and fell in love with the landscape, it was my first trip to the Northwest. When I left I vowed to get a camera and return, which I recently did. While my girlfriends family were all quilting, I made my escape and walked into some hills which are the first 2 pictures. The next is from Newport while I visited the Rogue Brewery, the best beer maker in all of America. I took this off the main bridge in Newport.

CC is appreciated, becuase i'm still getting my feet wet.

Greetings Nick. Glad you were able to enjoy our state. It is always fascinating to view "home" as seen from someone else's perspective. The first two are undeniable Oregon, but views that are rarely captured. I also find your take on the Newport Bay and jetties to be a very cleaver and different pov. Nice job. Hope you are able to return; we have much to shoot here. Best wishes. -Art

Welcome here.
I like the conditions with the soft, subdued light. You need to watch the dynamic range on your images, especially in 2. It shows white sky and the actual subject is underexposed. Using a grad ND filter or blended exposures will help. I would also loose almost all of the featureless sky in 1.
Keep shooting!

Hey Nick,

Ute has made excellant suggestions. Congrats on the creativity in #3, though it falls out of the realm of typical landscape photography with it being at an angle like that, but still it is very creative! I would suggest that often a good way to learn is to pick up a local tourist guide and look at the shots that appeal to your eye, and then go out and try to capture the same. You still will want to capture your own shots, but by going out and trying to duplicate the look and composition of a shot you have seen and liked, will help you to learn too.

Keep shooting!

Jim
