Just back from spending 3 weeks on Maui. We've been going there since the mid 1970's and I really dislike seeing the changes from all the addtional tourist and residential building and construction. Seems like many of the local peole have left and unfortunetly the spirit of Aloha left with them and island is now inhabited by impatient and wealthy Haole people from the mainland and other areas. Progress, isn't it great Many views that were once easily accessible are now hidden from view by towering hotels, condos, and multi-million dollar part time residences. By law access to beaches has to be available, but we all know that access can be made to be very difficult and parking at best is a problem.
Just my opinion that I felt like sharing! I love Maui, but I probably won't return.
Here's a couple of images from the end of a day.
Regards
Randy
Very nice images Randy.
FYI, there are islands in the South Pacific where the islanders never lost control of their land and the true spirit of Aloha still exists.
Seek and you will find.
Fine images. The results of progress/growth are not always pretty, but there's seldom any way to go back. Thanks for sharing these. I'm sure you will find other places worth your talent and effort. Looking forward to the results.
Beautiful classical images, Randy.
The first, especially, is just gorgeous. Love how you framed the view with the palms! Nicely done!
Sorry about the crowds. Hawaii is not alone in that department!
Welcome home!!

Very nice shots. Even with the trashing of the Islands, the view out to sea still excels. for me the second shot with the converging rock groins is the most appealing of two great images.

Hi Barry,
Glad you liked that one! Thanks for the welcome home. You're right, Maui is certainly not the only place that's crowded, but that used to be one of the reasons for going!! Now that I think about it, there weren't too many people in the hills when we shooting there that cold windy morning!!!
Sweet shots Randy. Both are just really nice. I'm sure you're liking that new Nikon. My new body is supposed to be hear on Monday. You up for horsetail falls at the end of February?
Mahalo Randy
for sharing some of the Aloha State.....
many of us still carry that Spirit in us
and know what the word really means..
Glad to have you home safe and well....
Tho both images are purdy
my fav is also #1.
Hope to see you next in some snow
Very nice! I like them both a lot, though #1 edges out just a hair. Too bad about how it is going over there, I have only been there once but had hoped to go back.

Love #2. Love Maui! We plan on having gallerys in Hawaii, and this post makes me less patient for that day! Beautiful.

Thanks Mark, glad you like the 2nd image. A location on Hawaii for a gallery would probably work well for you. Images of the islands obviously are the big sellers there. It's surprising that there are the number of galleries that are there.

Hi Tim and thanks! I really need to emphasize that it only my feeling after visiting various times since the mid 1970's. To those that have never visited previously they would most likely still find it very enjoyable.
I liked the 2nd image also, the island in the bg is Lanai.
