p.1 #1 · Mongaup Mink (6)

I parked along the Mongaup River lying in wait for passing or fishing eagles when I noticed a dark skunk like critter scurry across the road and down into the ditch alongside the river. It turned out to be a mink, whom had checked me out, swam across the river, and proceeded to hop and bounce from boulder to tree trunk, hiding and searching for food at the same time. This was my first view of a wild one and quite entertaining to watch. Thanks for stopping by. Herb

Herb, great catch and don’t be giving out to much info to that Irv, as he’ll be sitting down there all night. You may want to mark that spot as come between march and may they have their young and just maybe you will get lucky as the den may be in this area. The den can be usually near waterways, often under tree roots or an abandoned borrows of muskrat or beaver. The young are white when born and blind.

Yes Lou. That's the 40D and the 300 with 1.4x, though I've been trying the 2x lately on brighter days. Herb

Lucky you! It's so cool to see unexpected wildlife. I always wonder what I'm missing when I'm looking up, scanning the skies for birds
