p.1 #1 · Reading SDHC cards on a Epson P2000

I have a Canon G9 and for the longest time I have wanted to be able to read a 4gb SDHC card that I use in the G9 on my Epson p2000 or my wife's Epson p5000. Unfortunately, none of the Epson digital viewers/storage units (P2000, P4000, P3000 or P5000) support the SDHC cards directly. In a long effort to find a way to make that work, I finally found the solution and wanted to share that with others here who might be looking for a way to do this.

Jobo makes a SD/SDHC to CF type II card adapter for their giga view extreme viewers. This looked like a possible solution, but I was not able to find one in the US. I did find some similar adaptors on ebay and decided to try one as it was only $25. Well, it worked!!! I purchased mine from a seller called giga city. The adapter has a purple and blue label with SD/SDHC to CF adapter printed on it. Search for "SD/SDHC to CF adapter" on ebay and you will see several options. I tested this with my a Sandisk Extreme III 4gb SDHC card with images from my 1Dsmk2 and separately with the G9. My epson P2000 could view files from both cameras and copied the files just fine. I do not have a feel for download speed at this point, but if you want to be able to expand the capability of you epson viewer, this may just be the ticket.

Note that I do have the most recent software update on the P2000, and have not tried with a unit with older software verson.
