I am close to a final decision on purchasing an 24" printer and am leaning toward the HP Z3100 based on a combination of positive reviews, swappable black inks, and the $1000 rebate. My question is: what is HP's motivation for the $1000 rebate? Is HP working to capture market share as Epson is in transition from 7800 to 7880 to ??? Or, might HP be planning to announce a next generation printer at PMA in 24 days (seems to early for this)? Or, might HP be anticipating Epson announcing a new 24" printer with their new head system (also seems early giving they just put out the 7880)? Or, is this simply a periodic rebate program? I would appreciate your feedback on this.
Thanks!!
They are getting their butt handed to them by both Epson and Canon - yes market share. Also, Canon does this often as if they sell their printers at cost, they still make a killing on their inks.
