p.1 #1 · Mac User CS3 Color Problem

Hello,
Seems like I have yet another problem to deal with ha.

So let me tell you some background... I have moved from Windows to Mac and now I have bought a new hard drive and installed it for my MBP and now formatted again for Mac.

Question:
From Windows to Mac... When I open files in Photoshop CS3 or Bridge CS3 (RAW), the files are all messed up (blown out, colors over saturated). I kinda bit the bullet and thought since Windows and Mac was different it would effect my already edited RAW files in Windows to Mac.... No biggy...

NOW.... When I got this new drive and formatted it again....

It did it all over again with my new images. But these images seems even worse!

What is going on? Am I missing a setting? My screen is calibrated and just viewing them in Preview or Bridge (without opening, just thumbnails) they look great... Just when I open them it seems problematic.

Any help please? Sorry for long post
Chris

What is your default working colorspace set in PS?

By going to Edit.... Color Settings.....

sRGB 2.1 for RGB Working Space

I shoot completely in Adobe RGB. Is there a problem here?

Sounds weird! The only thing I can think of is that there´s a big difference between the screen you used on your windows machine and the one on your MBP. Either that or you've got some weird "auto setting" in ACR/Bridge messing things up. If the images were ok on the pc, they should by all means be ok on the mac.

If you would have said that they were darker or lighter to some extent I'd say it was a gamma setting, but "blown out" is something else.

Hope you find the root of the problem.

Cheers!

Here is a comparison of the pictures I was talking about

EDIT: Since the web made them look blah I added in 50+ Saturation to them both to show the efffect that I see on my monitor.

Please save me!

First of all, I saw your posting in the Nikon forum here; https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/603015

Cross posting is frowned upon. You can post in another thread with a link to the original thread, but to re-post the same subject is not advised.

Secondly; Your first post was at 10:00 pm last night and in the Nikon forum you're complaining about not getting anywhere in the Post-processing forum? Give it a chance. You've already received some good feedback and suggestions.

Third; Using a new hard drive has nothing to do with this and only adds confusion to your inquiry.

The only other things I would suggest is checking your Mac's default screen mode to make sure it is using the proper color space. I know you stated it has been calibrated, but some calibration software allow you to choose the color space. Then double check CS3 default settings. Sounds like something is setup different between the version in Windows and Mac.

Figured out the problem...

I suppose back in Windows... I had everything for CS2 Creative Suite setup for Adobe 1998 (which I shoot in Adobe 1998) and CS3 was set in widespread sRGB 2.1. Color problem that is now solved. I didn't know it would impact it that much.... If someone else sees a problem then be all means please tell me but I think I got it.

Actually AdobeRGB is a wider colorspace than sRGB.
