If you visit both companies you will probably be more comfortable working with B&H. I have used both buy only because B&H was out of stock on something.
Also, if you are a member of the Natl. Assoc. of Photoshop Users (NAPP), shipping is free via ground UPS anywhere in the US.

B&H or Beach. Spent thousands at both. Beach is usually cheaper with free shipping (which is always 3-day shipping even if you choose their free budget shipping) and they usually ship same day. I've found you usually need a Promo code at B&H to come close to the delivered Beach price.
The only negative I have had was with Adorama - I ordered a lens from them, paid and waited, waited, waited...(some was my fault as I should have contacted them sooner--) turned out there was some problem with their processing the payment and rather than notifying me, they simply refunded the money and cancelled the sale. The money was there; had they simply sent an email or called it would have been no problem. I vote for Amazon or B & H hands down. It caused me no end of trouble getting the lens replaced in time.
I've had good luck with both..maybe a little better with B&H..now I buy most everything from Allen's Camera In PA..When I was looking for a couple of Gitzo 1325s B&H was selling them for $530.00 ea...Allen sold them to me for $470.00 each...He also beat B&H by $50.00 on a canon 300f/2.8.
I usually order new equipment from B&H. I've occasionally reluctantly ordered from Adorama if something wasn't available from B&H at the time. I usually order used equipment from KEH.
I've had good experiences with B&H, Adorama, and Beach Camera. I've ordered from B&H and Beach online and purchased from Adorama in person with good experiences all around.
I live in Australia and have ordered from Adorama MANY times over a three year period. They ALWAYS delivered on time and NEVER let me down. I could not afford (due to the $ and 'tyranny' of distance) to phone them and complain. I always got order confirmation within 10min, Shipping confirmation with shipping tracking numbers when the goods left the US etc. If one Item was not available at the time the other was shipped it was sent-on at a later date without charging me freight to Australia for the 'late' delivery (usually only a day or two later. No shipment was held back because one item wasn't in stock.
Go and check the price of a 16GB Transcend CF card and compare it to B&H and some of the others.
Don't forget a company is only as good as it's worst employee.

I completely agree. They are both walking-distance from where I work. Adorama is closer, but I always go to B&H if they have what I'm looking for in stock.
Customer service at the B&H store has been absolutely top notch in my experience.
Update: Adorama called me just a little while ago and will be reshipping the order (after a small tweak I requested to switch to Hoya instead.)
Gotta say, I surely didn't expect to hear from them, let alone today, but as a company, they're back on my short list of reputable retailers. Tiffen on the other hand...
