p.1 #1 · Lightroom Users Check This Out

If you haven't seen this, here's a link to a nice export plug-in for Lightroom. It enables you to easily resize, sharpen, watermark, and FTP among other things during export from Lightroom. It integrates very nicely wih the Lightroom export dialog including the ability to save your settings as presets. Seems to work very well so far.

For me, it saves the hassle of going to PS for output sharpening. It should also save me some time preparing images for posting around here. Pretty cool.

this looks great, however, i'm totally clueless as to how to set it up. From what I can tell, i need to d/l and install ImageMagick, and then install the plug-in?

ImageMagic doesn't seem to have an install program, and I'm not sure where to place the plug in for LR.

Any help?

Jeff

First, install ImageMagick.

Then, if you are on Windows, download the LRMogrify .zip file and extract the contents into the following directory:

c:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules\LRMogrify.lrplugin

You'll probably have to create the Modules folder as well as the LRMogrify.lrplugin folder

restart Lightroom and you should be ready to go.

He clearly needs to sharpen up the install process, but it works well once you set it up.

i'm still not 100% clear on how to install Imagemagick... there doesn't appear to be an install program in the folder.

Jeff,
Assuming you are on Windows, go to the following page and select the top item in the windows download list and use the run option. It invokes the installer.

http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php#windows

Also, after a little reading through the Lightroom SDK, it looks like a better place to put the LRMogrify.lrplugin folder is:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.3\Modules (or wherever you installed Lightroom)

Travis,
I have done everything so far, installed ImageMagick, and your zip file (actually in both directories to be sure), but when I go to export.. there is still only one option: Export files to disk.. no other plugins.
Help?
thanks,
Steve

Steve,

Do you see a couple of small black arrows on the right side of the export files to disk window? If you do, click on them and you should see LR/Mogrify show up as an option.

Try this: In Lightroom 1.3.1 EXPORT window, at top right corner next to "Export files to Disk", there is an small up-down arrow. Click on the up-down arrow & choose LR/Mogrify. Bingo!

Are you using Lightroom 1.3

I could not get it to work in 1.2

I then upgraded to 1.3 and it still didn't work. I went back and followed the directions placing the files in both locations, (just like you did) and now it works.

When I upgraded to 1.3 it created a new lightroom 1.3 folder and it did not carry the lrmogrify files over to it. I had to do it again into the 1.3 folder.

It will only work in 1.3. They introduced the export plug-in SDK in that release. If you put the plug-in file in the Modules directory in the install directory, you will have to move it as new releases come out - as you apparently found out. The alternative is to put it under your user data folder...

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules

If you put it there, you shouldn't have to move it after you install new releases.

Thanks for posting this. I have installed it successfully but I haven't yet experimented with the different settings. Any advice on output sharpening settings for different sizes, or have you seen any guidelines posted elsewhere?

personally I won't bother to set up this plug-ins on LR since I never did any post-process other than WB,Basic Color retouch,Crop in LR. exporting to PS then do whatever you want will be my way to go. but thanks for sharing.

I see that he is now charging for it, which is cool. But, I wanted to download the limited version just to make sure it works and can find no link. Using Firefox so that may be the issue. Do others see a download link?

Thanks!

Nevermind, I am running an ad blocker program and that was apparently eating the link. I turned it off and refreshed the page and was able to view the link.
