Well here's my bug. When I click on the red "X" in the box nothing happens.
The opening page always had a pic by FM and by somone else. Also, there were usually 2 items reviewed. All contain that little red "X" now. Cure?
BTW, this bug offers a great insight into why updating this site seems like slow progress:
Something has gone wrong in the code in a file that is 703 lines long, and which you have never looked at before. Access is via a fairly slow mobile phone. The file contains a mixture of php, sql, html and javascript, and it contains quite a few includes which invoke other files. It has been written and modified by a series of developers, each of whom has a different style. It also throws up error messages about multibyte characters put in the file due to the failure of certain computer platforms to comply with standards. Someone has removed a vital line from the file, and left no clues as to what was removed or why. The job is to work out, first that something has been removed, then what that something might have been, why it was removed, and more importantly, what you should replace it with so that the replacement doesn't suffer from the problems that possessed someone to remove the vital line in the first place. It takes a certain kind of grim determination to face up to that kind of adversity. And Yorkshire weather.
Maybe along with the server migration there is more of the old code that has resurfaced, because in the last couple of days I have been experiencing much more frequent (albeit sporadic) slowdowns than in the previous few weeks when the cleanup was initiated.
FM is so slow at times, I just have to give up. No such problem with other sites. I’m sure this is a known problem.

When looking at a user's post history, I cannot get pages 4-20. The list shows 1,2,3....21,etc. When I am on page 3 of the history, I don't have a page 4 or 5 or 6 etc. to click on.
Hi guys,
The server migration did not take place yet. We are having issues with the new webservers. I will post an update whenever I have more info on this.
Thanks again for your patience.

I have found that the forum pages load MUCH faster when I am not logged in. Anyone else experiencing this?
Haven't noticed it, but I'm afraid that that is exactly what I would expect, judging by the source code. The user authentication method is written with no concern for the limited resources of a server. Perhaps the new server will improve things. At some point I may find time to rewrite authentication efficiently. However, the good news is that all of the server load optimisations that I am planning should also improve this issue.

Rachel -- To get beyond page 3 click on the ... which brings up a box where you have to type in 4 then do the same for page 5, etc. This can get frustrating after a few pages. I listed this as a bug a week or so ago but, so far, it hasn't been remedied.
Love to take credit for it, but not me. Did you just upgrade your browser? I seem to remember you get that when you go from Safari 2 to 3. You might have done that without knowing it due to automatic software update.
