I agree. The added speed of a small initial image more than compensates for the annoyance of clicking any that are to be viewed at full rez. Anyone else?
Will those paying for image upload be happy with such scheme?
I have added a button called forget to the pm OUT box. Like the delete button in the inbox, the effect is instant so you are not interrupted, and you can see your trail. A sender can not see a message he has forgotten, though it is still on the system for the recipient to view, until she deletes it.
I think Fred will be able to give a clear answer on that. Not everyone has an IM account. Some people find email intrusive when used by people they don't really know. I suppose PM has the advantage of keeping it within the confines of FM.com.
email is already avaiable via FM proxy through the EMAIL button. It's a nice feature, but seems to make PM a bit redundant.
How about an IM session available only as long as you're actively logged into FM. This would be similar to online help systems that present temporary chat session with help desk.
Just throwing ideas out there cause I know you're not busy enough.
Is the search function not working a bug or am I just dyslexic? I was trying to search for a thread I started and for the life of me can not find it. I can find recent posts and one very old post, but nothing in between.
Also the site has been extremely slow on and off for some time now. I'm on high speed cable and there are plenty of times I can't get on here at all but all other sites are functioning well.

Are you using the internal search function or Google?

Not very - if you could reduce to say 600 pixels it would be OK - and definitely reduce any over say 1000 (you can tell I have a relatively small monitor )

"Forget" is an odd term - and certainly not readily understandable (in fact - I'm not sure what it means )

I agree with that. It should only be an internal feature.
Yes - I like PM's. The email service is not ideal in that you can't attach an image or file to an email sent via the FM email system so I can't see much point in it.

I am convinced that image upload subscribers would not like the "thumb" idea at all. IMO, one of the nicest features of the presentation boards is that members can post their URLs without any code and their photos are embedded into their messages. The Image Upload feature should work the same way. The challenge will be to speed up this function without resizing the photos. They already have a "Size" and "Dimension" limit.
One idea would be to allow several images to be uploaded. If that is implemented, the thumbnail idea would not sound so bad.

I think though that if you embed your image without using image upload there is no limit - maybe one could be imposed limiting the sizes to something reasonable??
Yes - I think everyone would understand that "delete" only means from one's own outbox and that it did not delete it from the recipient's inbox. (but you could add a note on the "outbox" page to clarify this)
Many thanks to Richard for the programming effort and, of course, Fred for my favorite Web destination! Small suggestion from this Luddite: keep the site usable without the need for Javascript. HTML4 and CSS2.1 is your friend.
I used to feel like that about javascript, but this is all running well on a nokia e70 and an iPhone. What non-javascript platform are you planning to use?

I use lynx, Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0, Phoenix 0.5, and Firefox in equal measure. Also wget as needed. Web Luddites unite! I disable Javascript by default due to excessive practices of other web sites (not FM).
