Thanks very much everyone for your positive comments. Julien, the rectangle on the tree is a single birdhouse which I felt appropriate to this theme of simplicity.
amazing picture! it looks like it is some cgi-movie where the trees pop in one by one. this gives it an extremely unreal effect which is very cool! i can imagine walking into this scene, looking back and seeing that i've left no footprints in the snow only then to discover that world around actually doesn't exist anymore, just an endless whiteness and that handful of trees.
