This is a lovely shot. It is well composed, and the light blue background compliments it perfectly. I am very sorry for your loss.
I tried and failed (the chair, wall, etc were all the wrong colors to work well) to create a shot this week that showed my moms's obsession- books. Even though I didn't submit the shot, setting it up was a very cathartic process for me - hope that you found some comfort too. -amy
Steve, I just use one line of the cat that she collected, the Elisabeth Arden, She had a curior cabinet full of cats, but I had no way to effectivally shoot it. But, we all have things we collect and for some it becomes an obsession.
Amy, Thank you for your comments and I am sorry for your loss, and yes it did whic was really needed thsitime of the year.
BTW all these were lite with two 16x16 softboxes from eBay and a Quantaray QBT-9500A w?Stofen modifier. The Soft boxes cost me less than $50 for both and that inculded 2 HotShue/Umbrella adapter and shipping. I use two Vivitar 285s to plight the softboxes with the head in the wide mode, no WA filter at 1?8 or 1/16 power. These softboxes were a well investment as to quaility and potential.
The soft colored background adds to the cherished memories that these were your mom's. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope many of her items will bring back happy thoughts as you admire them in the future. Thanks for explaining your set up of lighting. Beautiful image! Thanks for posting.
