No use adding additionally to this thread. Thought I would share this one with you all too. Just click on the link and expand to see the details. I posted this as a response to Jan's post here.
Lyle that's pretty cool. You definitely have a knack for seeing things outside of the box when it comes to art. One suggestion: I'd add a translucent spherical reflection overlay to give it that glazed look, make it a bit more convincing. (Kinda like in the original)
Thanks Ethan. I've been experimenting with Polar Coordinate distortion blending for the reflections which I used for both the Echer's Cat and the Elephant abstract Baubles, but never thought to try Spherical. I've also experimented with using Starbursts and other lighting techniques (see this post for the starburs version) with some promise. Anyway, could you elaborate on the Spherical reflection idea (i.e., a link if you have it, or a sample {doesn't have to be a Bauble} since I learn by seeing and by copying others. Thanks a heap in advance.
(Except the owner of that stock wants you to ask for permission before you use it.)
Anywho you get the idea. Next bring it into PS and make a circle selection of it making sure to include the window. Run the spherize filter twice at 100%.
Next copy/paste the result as a new layer into your bauble file. Resize as necessary and then set the layer to "screen" and adjust opacity and brightness/contrast to get the most realistic result. Done, walla. If you want to see what I came up with, lemme know I'll send you a link.
OK Ethan. Link would be cool too, but I believe you are trying to blend in an external reflection as opposed to using the same image; one with a light source of course. That would be more realistic then using the same image (I'm just lazy and the image at play is already available).
