I don't shoot much wildlife except for the occasional bird/my cat, but this is by far my favorite. It was actually an accident as I forgot to change my exposure before I took this (at the zoo if you can't tell). I'm glad I didn't delete it!
Great thread; there are some very sweet images in here. My contribution is this shot of a cormorant. It's special for me because I had previously captured some much earlier in the year that were just decent. I happened to be passing by the same spot several weeks back and noticed that the buildings beyond would might make and interesting background so I shot this time from a slightly different position.
One of my favorites of this year because, despite the cold conditions, I was fortunate enough to get a good reflection. Taken on a freezing day at the end of January, with lake in background frozen over, but foreground water not frozen.
This is probably my favorite... today, but that may change by tomorrow. I had so many "first" shots.. like first bear cub, first coyote, but this is the first bull moose I have ever seen in Waterton, and the lighting was perfect, and the fall colors were perfect, and the moose was just so cooperative. But then again, so were the cubs, and the coyote.. oh lets just say that this is just one of my favorites for the year.
Well, after much debating, I have made my selection. I spent two weeks in late October, early November at the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) in Namibia and had many wonderful opportunities to photograph these beautiful cats. I could have gone with several, but decided this is probably my favorite. Anyone wishing to see more photos from CCF can look at my other posts in the Nature forum.
Laura, this is a great idea. I have been stuck in eagle territory for most of the year so here is one that I really like. I have enjoyed the opportunity to photograph these majestic birds.
I fell in love with eagles when in Alaska in 2005, only to find out that I had these majestic birds within a short drive of my home. So I have spent a lot of time this year photographing our national symbol. With many photos to choose from it was hard to pick a favorite, but this one shows the bird in nice detail.
I started serious photography only a few months ago when i got my 400 5.6.
Of all the shots i took i think this is the best so far of the year.
Sadly, my Xti broke and i haven't been taking pictures for a few weeks, i was just starting to get my technique good and take decent pics and boom my camera breaks.
Trying to buy a 40D now, but money doesn't grow on trees.
Thank you for getting this thread started Laura, some phenomenal shots posted here.
I had been trying to get a shot of an Eagle against the bluffs as a backdrop, but never got the right shot. On the last day of shooting Eagles this spring, I got this one, it was one of the last shots of the season, and one of my favorites.
This may not be my best of......but this little mama kildeer is special to me, allowing me within 10 ft of her and her 4 eggs. She gave me many many photo ops and I feel as if I had a bond with her for a couple weeks. Got a bit cramped laying on the ground so much
