I just got a G9 and uploaded my first RAW files on my P-3000. I can see the file but I can't zoom it. I suspect that this is because it doesn't have RAW support for the G9.
Does Epson update the P-3000 from time to time to add new RAW support?
Well I have the P-2000, and you can't zoom in. Since the image that you’re seeing is the embedded image on the RAW file, it's a low resolution, so makes no sense to zoom in on that image.
on the raw images that i take with my 5D i can zoom them just fine up to 100%.
The FAQ page on the P-3000 says it supports the 5D. The software for the P-3000 is stored on the internal disk drive. Seems to me it could be easily upgraded to new raw file formats - and should be.
John, you cannot really zoom in to 100% on the 12.8 Mpx 5D raw file - just to 100% of the 1.5 Mpx thumbnail that is built into the raw file. Prove this for yourself by counting how many steps you need to zoom in to 100 % of a raw file (two at most) and how many steps to zoom in to 100% of a full-size jpeg (three or four). The screen is 640 pixels wide and the thumbnail is 1500 pixels wide. Hence two steps are required to reach 1:1 image:screen pixel ratio.
The Epson device does not support the raw format except by being able to view the imbedded thumbnails. There is no facility for raw file manipulation (e.g. of white balance or sharpening) because there is no raw conversion engine in the Epson device.
When I know that I'll want to view the files on my Epson p-5000 I shoot raw+jpeg in the camera and view the jpegs on the Epson (ignoring the raw files)and view the raws on my computer (deleting the jpegs).
