Staples did offer these deals last night online (free shipping), but the site got hammered and every time I tried to check out it just "went away". Oh well, I just wanted a couple of the smaller cards to stick in the 1D3 and use to transfer stuff between my laptop and the studio pc. I guess I'll have to live with the calumet price unless I can still get some from Staples later.
Thomas - hope you had a good Tday. The weather here is cold, wet, raw (RAW? ) and in the low 30s. Even though there were 30,000+ single celled animals standing in line last night and this morning (lines form 12:00-2:00 am), I decided that my nervous system was just a little too advanced to play the game. I even slept in until 7:00 am!

Agree about the whole thing. Best Buy lines start forming around 10 PM here....(not kidding) I went early this morning (around 7 a.m.) to see what I could grab and they were out of all that I was looking for except the SanDisk Ultra II's. I grabbed one, got to the end of the line (which at this point was snaking all across the HUGE Best Buy) and decided that I would just get it online and eat the shipping charges. My sleep is way more important and my lack of wanting to stand in line for 3 hours to save $9.00 on shipping seemed to convince me to drop the SanDisk back where I found it (just to be nice) and left.
BBQ baby back ribs, corn, potatoes and Fat Tire Beer (started with a CC-7) as there's just my DW and I. DS was with friends.

Love your above.
Shopping report:
I drove by the local Staples (Campbell, CA), across the street from the local "Fry's." (38 degrees F and clear). The cops and cones were out with flashlights. All the parking lots were filled to capacity, down the street for a quarter mile, in all directions, with look-y-loos via'ng for parking spaces that didn't exist and the people que line went around the corner and down the side of the Staples building. And this for a "possible" one card score? I don't think so.
Around the corner at the next light I went (Screw this $###) and sadly, in the darkness and cold of another morning's beginning, I drove home, sans the possibility of scoring a really, really good deal on "one" CF card. Sniff ! Sniff! Thhhhhhhhp!
I picked up 4 2gig CF Ultra II's for 14.99 each, along with a $299 compaq laptop for my wife to play on the internet with. (so she can stay away from my Macbook pro!). $60 was worth it IMHO even if these are only 60X cards. Now I can shoot 3 weddings on a weekend and not have to download untill monday, not that I would ever want to do that.
Granted, I went specificly for the laptop and stood in line from 4am till 6am, but the CF cards were just gravy.
I bought the SanDIsk Ultra II 2 GB card at Office Depot LAST WEEK on a special for $19.99. I'm sure it was a "loss leader', but hey, they offered it, so I bought it !

I ordered, online, 10 ea for $160.66, including tax and free shipping. They, according to the gal on the phone that I checked with, had seventy-five in stock. I plucked ten off the shelf, so, FWIW, they now should now have sixty-five more in inventory.

THanks to BeeMan's earlier post about these, I checked the Staples website and found they were selling them online too (yesterday's paper said it was just an in-store early bird special). I just ordered three of these, and came back here to report, but BeeMan beat me to it. At $14.98 each, and free delivery, it's cheaper than ANYTHING on ebay!
Plus the fact that Rob Gailbraiths' site shows that when used with a 30D these cards are almost as fast as the Extreme III and IV, this is a no-brainer.
