Vistaprint are the Kings of Spam, and in my experience the quality is sketchy. I simply won't support them for these reasons.
I've had great luck with http://overnightprints.com for business cards, good color accuracy and they print on 15pt. card stock, much heavier than other online printers I've tried.

Maybe hire a designer to figure out a memorable concept rather than mucking around outside of your area of expertise?
Oh man, chances are there are only two people on this forum who understand that, one being you and the other myself. Most times I see a website or a card posted here for critique it's like the ugliest piece of trash... For some reason photographers think they are experts in design, LoL.

There are many reasons why people don't get their cards done by the so called " Pro" for myself it was money,at first I did go to two pro designers and what I got back in the proofs was as you say "ugliest piece of trash" so much for the pro which is a very loosly used term these days,so I did it my self the way I wanted it,it does not matter how good your card is there is always going to be someone who does not like it.
My card is on page 2 of this thred so feel free trash it as you see fit,the main thing is .......I like it

Duh. Sure you need to find a real pro, not a guy who's just claiming he's pro. Just curious, how much did those "pro" guys charge you?
Guys, I'm new to this forum, and I am a "pro" designer as well as a photographer. I make my living designing and I offer photographic services as part of my company. I agree alot people label themselves that. Just like alot guys running around with cameras call themselves "photographers" and "pros". So think about how people feel when they hire a "pro" photographer and get lame excuses for their treasured memories. Ok, so there is my rant. Let me suggest this to those who have the talent and want to be recognized for it. Get a designer...
Look, the truth is people judge your quality by what you give them. If they are looking for a "pro" photographer, they expect "pro" results (translated "willing to pay for that quality"). If your cards are ugly, then what will they expect from your photos? I'll tell you...cheap. And they will likely come to you if they don't get who they really want.
You don't have to agree but at least think about it. I consult for some very large corporations and I can tell you image is perception. What more are YOU saying as a "Pro" in creating "images" if you don't care how you present your business? Yes, you can get by with inkjet printed cards and desktop published designs, but that's the market you are putting yourself in.
So far, for my money, if I were hiring a photographer, it would be 13bdesign. Why? because from the card, I could imagine this to be one heck of a photographer who can work with designers to create a "look" that is together, sophisticated, and professional. I mean no offense to anyone here, nor am I implying it's the only good example. I know NOone on here so take it as an unbiased opinion.
But I would like to stress what someone else said, let the people do what you cannot. You would get offended if you were going to a shoot and you got there and the client said "hey I just got this new Powershot digital and it has a flash so I think I'll just shoot it, thanks". same thing with designing your own stuff. Few can pull it off and do a great job, but many fall short.
Last thought, you (and me, I am a photographer) spend hundreds and thousands on lenses, strobes, and gear so we we can do our job. So why is it that you are so reluctant to spend a little cash on something that can generate tens of thousands of dollars in revenue?
I would hire 13B Design too!!! I'm sorry to say that I find most people's cards on here poorly designed. I guess we are photographers and not graphic artist's for a reason I see a lot of people putting cameras or copyrighted images directly off the Canon website and I think this is a really lame and poor design choice. If I were a potential customer and saw that I would find it really tacky and lacking in creativity. Some people say a camera on the business card allows people flipping through business cards to quickly determine what type of business you are in but I think it lacks class.
I think we should either KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) or go with a real designer as well.
I will be posting my own card as soon as it comes in the mail. Feel free to take a look and bash my poor design skills as well.
hello, i've been a long time lurker but first time poster. didnt expect it to be in this section tho, usually spend my time in the macro/people/architecture sections.. this thread grabbed my interest as i'm soon finishing up my post grad diploma in industrial design, and photography has always been a passion of mine, and have been doing up some business cards for myself to hand out to prospective design employers. a point of curiosity is the logos that i see, does everyone here register their trade marks? i mean it seems logos are a necessary thing to have, but people wont exactly mimic your logo and produce lower quality goods, in this case photos, and sell to people.. or will they??
Printed 300 for $29.99 USD from Print100. Includes free worldwide shipping. They're pretty nice BUT I wish the cards were slightly thicker. Can't complain for the price though.
