I find that most everything photographic can be additionally complicated by having a cat help. Mine like to help me type, set up studio shots, and cut mats, but won't help by posing so well as yours does here.
Nice shot Suzanne, you've captured her expression very well, and the b/w conversion is excellent.
Thanks very much, Chas. I'm so tickled that you liked the conversion. It was a real bear to do because the cat is in shadow, the computer glow is a sickly cyan, and the lamp on the far side of the cat is throwing so much lamplight on my husband's photo and the calendar. Now that I think of it, all the light on the cat must have been reflected from those two sources. Nothing else was on in the room. I don't remember which thing worked to tame the computer glare...either a curves application at odd settings or a channel mixer trick. I know that (I should write this stuff down!) Oh yes, now I remember. I did a layer blend of with a supersaturated duplicate of the original, using the exclusion setting. At least, I think that's what it was. PSP deletes the step detail when you save and close a file.
Also, I've been getting very nice results in noise control by using PSP X2's "Digital Noise Removal Filter." It's another one of those tools with an unforgiving learning curve that I had avoided for too long. But that's why the cat looked okay. At the outset she had been quite red and noisy from being in the shadow. My original plan was simply to darken her into a silhouette, but it proved unnecessary.
The cat does assume other poses. I do try to discourage the one where she lays across the keyboard. In wintry weather she loves the heat that comes out from under the laptop. I have to block open the vents by elevating the laptop in the back on a couple books. Otherwise, she wraps herself around the base, smothers the fan outlets, and the little laptop overheats. (It would be risky, but I ought to try to get a photo of that!)
Sorry to barge in with my first upload here at FM, but I had to join this game. Great pictures everybody, a humbling experience to browse these forums.

How about getting this game back on track?

I very much like your narrow dof and all are welcome to post to the thread.
The idea is to have some fun and share, I think you got us back on track, but this is a Barge, Tug.
I love that capture by Mr. Petersen, it is one of his best I have seen.
He is a good friend, would be a honor to have him in the Pilot House with me.
It is a bit crowded in here ... no need for fences ..
Here's one I can share that's related to the river theme, although it's a photo my husband took. It may look small, but this river, the Old Ijsel, was once the artery of trade to my husband's hometown in Holland. When he was growing up, the river was full of barges bringing coal to the foundry where most of the men of his town worked, and taking away the cast iron stoves, pans and other finished products.

Looks like a nice place Suzanne. Hopefully there aren't any Crocs in there... :worried:
Thanks, Jason. The Netherlands is a lovely place. I'm glad you liked my husband's shot. If there are any crocs in the rivers...hmmm, what with progressively warmer winters there, you never know. Crocs in the water would certainly be a boon for people who like to take bone photos!

Our dog would be in love with you Soenda, what a dream come true.

Max would be popping with delight ...
I'm afraid that Coby takes it for granted. When my husband gets up first, Coby helps himself to the warm spot left behind. Then this is the face I'm likely to wake up to.
As for popping with delight, Coby hasn't popped a bubble for me the entire time he's been here. He does wag his tail enthusiastically though. I guess we'd all rather that Max pops bubbles than have him start wagging his tail.
That's some fine fence, there Gary. And it's true: Sometimes you can't go over the fence. Or even dig under the fence. But every once in awhile, you can go through the fence!
