p.1 #1 · Help with FM Upload ...

Hi All ~

I have FM Upload but it is not working. I have followed the information on this site how to upload, but when I "send message" (with my photo attached via "Browse"), I get the message "FYI only .Jpg and .Gif files are allowed" (or close language). All of my images are .jpgs (and resized to the required size for the Weekly/Monthly assignments)

Fred Miranda is trying to kindly help me on this, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas. He suggested deleting cookies in the host forum, but that doesn't appear to work either (it seems as though the link doesn't really delete them).

Alternatively, does anyone know how to imbed an image from SmugMug? I have an account there and can just do that. Although it seems ridiculous to pay for both services!

Any help would be great!

Carolyn

If you are using Windows, just right click on the Smugmug photo that you want to embed, and select "copy shortcut." Then you can paste the link into a message.

Thanks Dan ~ I believe I'll just do that. I cannot seem to find another solution.

Carolyn,
I just logged in as you and uploaded the image you emailed me to this thread. It uploaded the image just fine. That is why I believe it must a browser cookie problem.

First let's see how you are uploading an image. You should follow the below steps:
1. Click to post your reply or message in the forum.
2. Write in your post
3. Below the message box is a Picture: window - Click on the browse button located on the side of this window.
4. Select the photo you want to post from your hard drive.
5. When you post the reply you will see the photo in your post.

-------

If you are doing the above but still can't upload, clear your browser cookies. The fastest way is to clear all your browser cookies. In Internet Explorer do the following:
Go to Tools / Internet Options / General Tab / Delete Cookies

I apologize for the inconvenience. This has never happened before but I'm pretty sure it can be fixed by following the above instructions.

Fred ~

Sorry, it has taken me a while to respond. I have a friend with ovarian cancer and life is kind of tough at the moment.

I did indeed do the steps you outline. When I hit "send" to the reply, I get the error message (and still do) ~ the image never shows up in the message because I can never fully reply (if that makes sense). I tried repeatedly deleting my cookies from the Internet Explorer as you outline (i.e., not from FM site) and that does not work either, but it does wipe out the cookies because all log-in information is gone. So I at least know that part was successful.

I downloaded Firefox and am going to try that browser. I will test here.

As you expected, "copy shortcut" from SmugMug did not work either, nor does imbedding the link in the format. For some reason SmugMug doesn't seem to work with FM.

So giving Firefox a go. Thanks kindly for your time and patience in trying to solve the issue.

IT WORKED!!! How crazy was that, I had to install Firefox as IE doesn't do that at all.

Well, stranger things have happened. Now to post in the Monthly area.

Thanks again Fred ... and to the kind person who suggested trying Firefox. Maybe this will help someone else at a point!

Carolyn,
I have found in my many years here on FM that the browsers are 90% of any upload problems I have. I use FF 100% of the time and it has worked flawlessly on my wife's macbook.

On my 2 PC's, I have continued problems...I usually have to "Restart" my OS to keep working!!

I have Norton for virus, VPN and tracking but I believe it is way to invasive despite what Nortaon sez "they aren't doing"!

Glad Fred got you squared away!!
