This is a super series! What a great specimen!; and you have presented a complete study of him in all his different poses. I love number 1 for posing him in the golden-green grass of the prairie, no 2 for the use of silhouette, no 3 and 4 for the opposite poses; and no 5 for that most regal pose and posture, in front of the distant mountains. Beautiful, and a treat to view.
I can see how these things could get picked off so easily. These shots make me think of life on the prairie during yester year.
So did this guy make any noise?
I'm crazy about the snorting and bellowing they do...

Most excellent J-

actually , in truth Elk are like the ghosts of the west. This guy is an enigmna for sure , i have no idea why he was out in the open prairie, perhaps he just likes the wider spaces?
He didn't make any noise at all save for the sniffing hen he was checking out my scent. Unlike the crazy Bison bulls always it seems in an endless "pissing contest" of who is the baddest bull around

This series is excellent in so many ways, the variety, including a really super silhouette, plus closeups, wide angle, this is to me a smorgastbord of viewing that I miss in many posts where the close shots are so excellent that I want to also see the environment where all of the photo action takes place. You've included everything in this series and it was extremely enjoyable, J, thanks.
thanks Norm
I have not had a nice safari in a long time so it was a great change of pace for me
