This is in the Pendleton overlook area of Blackwater Falls State Park, WV. It was raining, which turned the tree trunks as black as they appear here. I don't know much about trees, but they seemed like they were a billion years old.
WOW! A verdant landscape seemed like an obvious choice for the subject, and I expected to see a few. No matter - this is outstanding. The subject could have been "shoot ferns and trees" and your image would still be a standout amid the crowd of entries.

Bill the trunks appear a lot more green on the full size version. They were caked with soggy lichen, moss, or whatever that gunk is. The wet ferns were reflecting up so much green light that the distant fog looked green too.. lol...
