p.1 #1 · Nice Atlanta locations for engagement photo shoot

Hi

It's the first time I have been asked to shoot engagement pics for a couple at the end of the month, and don't know which locations would be appropriate. Does anyone know a great/appropriate for spot in Atlanta, or near by ? Should I let them choose the place ? Also, when would be the best time of the day to do it ?

I appreciate all your help!

Best time of day....golden hour, the last hour before the sun is down.

Ideas for places to shoot:
Stone Mountain Park
Atlantic Station
Art District (over near King Plow Arts Center)
Piedmont Park
Atlanta Botanical Garden
Centennial Park
Peachtree Street near the Fox and Georgian Terrace

I know that Atlantic Station security does not appreciate photographers in the area.

If a little driving is not a problem have them meet you at Amicolola State park a couple hours before sunset.

Start at the waterfall then move up to the lodge.

Get some shots from the inside with the huge windows in the background then move down to the back patio at sunset.

Afterwards you can eat a quite dinner there and write it off as a business expense.

Dang..........kinda makes me want to do it for you

I'm in Atlanta too and would be interested to find out some good locations. Amicalola is nice but can be really crowded at times for setting up a good shot.

Thanks everyone!

The ones I experimented and liked are Stone Mountain [great sunset on top of the mountain] and Centennial Olympic Park [the rings fountain]. Thanks for the other suggestions. The Atlantic Station Park and the Botanical Garden sound interesting. Will most probably take a trip there and inspect

snaptie, the Amicalola is gorgeous but there's a lot of people there. Will probably vote with the couple on the location.. Thanks for the "itinerary"

Have a wonderful evening!

The best locations are places that the future B&G are most comfortable in!

Oh yeah those places are not crowded

That's the beauty of Amicalola there have been many times that my wife and I have had the resturant to our selves in the middle of the week. But anyway........there is no shortage of places to shoot in the Atlanta area.

The Chattahoochee river has several public park areas that are nice.

By the way I was the project manager on the 17th street bridge project going into Atlantic Station. It has 22 foot wide side walks with a great view of the city at night.

I've seen some really interesting street-type work here from crowded streets but the photographer finds a way to isolate the couple well. It's a different approach. A lot of these places are less crowded in the morning if you and your couple can get up early.

Agreed on the 17th Street Bridge...The 5th St. Bridge also have a large walkway/landscape now. I could see some interesting dusk slow shutter stuff with the downtown connector in the background....give the impression of the world passing your couple by but the two of them together.

Hey Dennis,

You are right . I didn't mean anyhting negative about your suggestions. I would not hesitate to shoot at any one of them.

There is also a fair amount of movie activity around town. Crowds don't seem to bother them!

I just thought it was funny that out of all the locations mentioned that the park in the middle of nowhere was the one that was too crowded.........

dpmurray i like the idea. thanks for the eye opening.

snaptie2002 I agree, everywhere can be crowded, and it's possible to get very nice pictures in crowds, and Amicalola is on the list for them to vote. I would take them on every place mentioned above, but let's see. Thanks, really!
