When you do the sensor clean thing with the cap on, can anyone verify that an actual "remap" is being done? It occurs to me that all that is really happening is the static charge on the sensor is being dissipated somehow in preparation for cleaning. I say this because some people (I am one of them) have had great success with this method while others have not. If an actual remap where being done shouldn't it work very consistently?
I am curious to know the answer to the above as well
and does it "remap" or "remove" both hot and dead pixels or just hot pixels?
My guess is that it does not "remap" but might "remove" hot pixels (not dead
pixels) temporary because of the charge/discharge of the sensor, but I could
be wrong. I know for the fact that you can sometimes remove hot pixels on
LCD monitor by gently massaging the screen, hence the charge/discharge
on sensor might remove some hot pixels (not remap) on sensor. Could
this be the case?
I can't try it myself because I don't have hot/dead pixels on camera.
