peace out - Insurance? I was in the process of insuring with the Nikonians when they canceled their program. So I update with State Farm on my homeowners. Reasonable rates, but I can't charge for photographic work because it will void the insurance. Hobby only is fine with me now.
The sad part of my theft was that the Nikon, and my two Hasselblad's were thrown out of thief's car window onto the road siding during a police chase weeks later. All ruined! - Best, Bob
Hey, whats this thread doing on page 2. Ok, since the D3 D300 announcements, it must be time for everyone to drop in some more photos with old equipment.

very nice shot, Stompyq.
Can I ask you which ND filter you used? looks like a 64x...
Thanks. I used a Hoya ND400 filter (9 stops light loss). Just kept changing f/stops and looking at the results. This one produced the best shape and texture in the water.
...and haven't posted since, here is two. I don't know what species these orchids belong to...
Both were shot with a D1 and a Metz 32CT4/ReyGay Flash Diffuser/reflectors. There were no PS and cropping edits, just dust bunny cleaning. The first shot is with a Nikkor 35mm f2 nonAi and extension tubes. The second one was shot with a Carl Zeiss Luminar 25mm f2.5.
thank you guys and gals. I think the last one is top of my list to get printed. My friend in the picture said "that'd make a good shot" whilst pointing at the shadows on the sand. I agreed and she walked off, and just so happened to make an interesting subject at the same time. So I can't take much credit really - the shot was her idea and she's in the picture as a focal point
The work here is amazing.
My excuse for posting is mine come from places less travelled, and are therefore excused technical excellence.
I am going to post three, but the technology of getting them on the same upload has defeated me.
The first is of Chogha Zanbil 120 Kms (Thats 70 miles for you Americans!)Nth of Ahvaz and very close to the Iraq border.
Chogha Zanbil: Approx 1300 BC. Taken in Iran when there Oct 2005 when escorting my wife who ws there seeking witness statements in support of Asylum seekers who at that time were locked in Australia' infamous gulag of desert camps
