The longer I shoot, the less I get concerned with technical perfection and more enamored with the overall feel. Many of the images displayed here just plain feel good to me. Yeah, I know it's a kid pic, but this image of one of my Grandkids is in that category for me:

OH My goodness, what a cute little girl. What's not technically perfect about this shot? Don't answer that!!!! It's perfect as far as I'm concerned. Great use of fill flash ... I would not have know if you had not mentioned it. Do you give lessons?

Sometimes, I get this urge to do things that I know makes no sense, like buying an ancient Nikkor 500mm reflex. I have a long way to go before I can make quality photos with this thing, but it's a fun lens, and I'm enjoying it a lot
S3 with Nikkor 500mm reflex, f/8 obviously. First shot, the view from my balcony:

Thanks for the comments and kudos guys. This is the finish some cheap glassware I picked up in Thailand several years ago at about 1.3 : 1 magnification. Studio lighting (one gridded light with a ...special diffuser and some reflector for fill). Then just regular post processing...D200 with 200mm micro nikkor and (IIRC) 60MM of extention tubes.

This is one of my favorites. Both for the outcome and the act of taking the shot. I had to use a graduated ND to keep the sky from blowing out.
Here are two photographs taken on consecutive days in a marina near my home in Jersey City, NJ. It's across the Hudson River from downtown New York City, which serves as an amazing backdrop.
I'm particularly impressed with the D300's handling of the subtle hue in the single boat image.
