F30 - no image stabilization.

However, higher ISO settings are quite usable.

I don't think so. Not on either model. The new model f40fd has something called "picture stabilization mode" which is ISO 2000 equivilent. The higher ISO allows for faster shutter speed which would reduce camera shake. But since they also claim this mode reduces subject motion blur it has nothing to do with optical image stabilization in the lens or body of the camera.

I have a F31fd, it's a great little camera and it does not have IS. OTOH, it has a shooting mode called "Picture Stabilization" which is programmed to use wide apertures to give shutter speeds as high as possible. This is probably why there is confusion on this issue.

it's the ISO trick, not optical.

The ISO is actually pretty good (I use an f30 as my 'pocket camera' sometimes), it's nowhere near current SLR ISO qualities, but it's much better than most (any?) other small point and shoots.

I have the F30 and its doesn't have optical image stabilization.

Its a great camera. The battery life is outstanding as is its high ISO performance. I only wish that it used SD cards...

If you believe Fuji marketing, their image stablization suck big time major. If you view it as a digicam without IS, IMHO, it is the current best low light camera in that class.

no optical image stabilization on any fuji point and shoot. Own the F30 and can assure you it does not have image stabilization.

Wish the Canon G7 or Leica D-Lux 3 had the fuji chip
