What an eye-catching shot! Very neat. I love the lighting and color tone, too. (I would clone out that little white diagonal highlight on the lower left though :-) ). Good luck!

I think judi summed up my thoughts pretty well. I might be ok with the signs, except for the fact I can only guess their meaning and that does distract me.

If it makes you feel any better, it is an old property address marker for the un-incorporated areas in my area. I can see how it would be a little confusing.
It isn't the top one that is distracting. That is obviously some sort of coordinate marker and it really doesn't bother me to not know exactly what it is for. The one underneath is partially visible - enough for someone like me to wonder what it says. Probably obvious to everyone else, but I looked at it and got distracted trying to figure out what it says. At this point, I won't feel any better if I know, I just mentioned it because I thought you wanted feedback on how we react to your shot.
I can see Al's point, I guess. One doesn't really know what
the image is about. Am I to see or understand something
that I can't? Is it about these signs? Or just the post? So
I'd say the subject is not apparent (a problem my photos
frequently suffer from ) Color and texture are great though!
So sorry if you took that as a criticism Kevin...I am just a curious person and LOVE crossword puzzles...and any word game.......can't help myself...:-)) I'm still a sucker for "Wheel of Fortune" :-)) PS just read Norman's post...whew!! thanks,,,,,I can rest my mind now....!! I thought it said "no messing about"
Well, I must not be as curious as the rest of the gang, 'cause I didn't mind not knowing what it said. I just liked the image a lot, and still do. All the compliments are right on.....it's a good capture, for sure, Kevin!
Great shot - nice lighting/tones. This shot has got a lot of philosophical substance to it - the passing of time, substitution, memory.... I like it a lot.

Thanks! I really wish we could put up higher res versions... I took this picture with my 100mm Macro which is an INCREDIBLY sharp lense. I decided to print this picture the other day on 8.5x11 semi-gloss... there is just so much detail in the tree that it freaks me out! Sounds strange, but the more I look at it the more I like it! Mayeb later tonight I will put up a link of a higher resolution version so you all can see what I mean.
Thanks again all!
EDIT:: Here is a link for a higher resolution version if interested: LINK
Yes, I see what you mean - that is one sharp lens. The detail really jumps out.
It's one of the pitfalls, I guess, of the egalitarian WA rules. You can't post the size and res you want. I know its the only way of seeing/comparing like-with-like, but size and res (aka presentation) can really alter an image.
