To avoid ghosting in autopano pro, you have to use smartblend blending option. It is not a different tool though, as smartblend is integrated into the base code, but it takes more time to stitch.

Here is a pano (85 pictures on a tripod, not pano head) where I used smarblend to remove moving people. No ghost : Bouillon Castle

I've stitch up to 312 pictures on a single pano with autopano pro, and I have seen panos with even more.

PTgui. I've found it to be easy to use and it will do a great job even on photos that were taken with out very good pano technique.

p.2 #3 · absolute best pano software?

Having followed this and other threads, I've narrowed down to PTGUI and AutoPano. I have trouble choosing between the two (they're both still a little hard for me to use!).

Can someone help me compare and contrast these two, so I can pick one, buy it, and get back to printing? Thanks!!!

For autopano pro, there is a wiki page (no fully completed yet) wiki page link

For any missing how-to's, you can get real help on the autopano forum. It did make use of it several times.

Latest release is 1.3, but you can download the 1.3.1 alpha 2 release which has some new features and is stable.

There is no support for fishseye yet, but this is planned for 1.4 (a couple of months away).

I use Canon's Photostitch. The latest version seems to do well. I cannot compare it to the others but I do find a flaw in some of them however I think it may be due to how I over lap the originals.

The new photomerge tool from cs3 is far better than the older, it is a good one.
