Wow, Jim! This is just gorgeous, stunning. I love the colors in this. (... the dark spot on the front leaf would be a good candidate for clonesville if you're so inclined?) Wow, again.
Thanks Beverly, and Steve. I guess after culling over 300 images I got a little sloppy on this one...thanks for pointing out the leaf bits in need of cloning.
This is indeed a very nice shot. One of my favorites thus far! I really wish I had some bugs right now to play with! You make it look so cool and interesting to shoot. I never shot insects before and now I want to.
Thanks everyone! I should have acknowledged the wonderful comments sooner, but I've become an addict to yet another aspect of photography. Peter, if you have any advice I could use it real quick. I saw my first wild bald eagle up close...not soaring a quarter mile away or more. No, 30-40 feet away...I still get excited just thinking about it...and I find myself re-aligning priorities to get expensive long glass...now, that can't be good...considering my family does need to eat. What to do ... what to do? Linkage below.
Jim,
I spent way too much time looking at a butterfly field guide, with no luck at I.D.ing
your entry. Do you know what it is? Also, are you on the west coast?
Dan, I don't know what kind of butterfly it is. There were about 2-3 other similar ones at the botanical gardens, but they had opac... (I can't remember how to spell you couldn't see through their wings) They were cream colored...slightly yellow. This one was translucent in spots, and more white than cream, but I think it was the same species. If you go to the Nikon forum I put up a shot of one of the other ones that was perched on a guys shirt...maybe that will help.
Flibble, many years ago I stumbled across Millington's famous "Things my girl friend and I argue about" online diatribe (now translated into 9-10 languages). Your humor is in the same league in my book. I really enjoy what you contribute to FM. Visually, your photos are a feast to my eyes!
For those who haven't read any Millington here is a link to the famous girlfriend post. (follow all the additional links...it will probably take you quite some time to get through it all).
