I have now some more experience with the Tamron lens and I just wanted to share the following: the build is consumer grade but the optical performance is really convincing. Believe me, pictures are crisp, also in the corners. That lens is an excellent tool for the price. Highly recommended if you don't want to spend the price for a 17-55 2.8.
I too found the Tamron to be an excellent lens. I found the zoom ring to be way too large and makes it difficult to mount and remove the lens due to the thing rotating on its own. (I guess that's what the lock switch is for) But that's my only complain. The colors are amazing and the center sharpness is awesome. Border sharpness suffers a bit but that's not unusual.
Very good glass. I actually prefer it to the Nikkor since it's much more compact.
I was looking into buying this lens and never really heard anything at all about it... thanks for the pictures though and your comments! I will def be putting this on my wishlist for the future
Thanks for posting Guy, and I'm glad you like your lens! Interesting that those Canons seem to have rifled barrels already. I bet those would have carried pretty far.
Really like the picture with the chandelier. Nice composition and interesting lighting effect!
