Would be scarier if the gun was loaded...

Or if it was being held properly

You are right this would be scarier if the gun was loaded, but dont think I would be the photographer in front of him too because of safety issue.

The sqare crop seems to work a bit better than the horizontal for some reason. Keeps things tight...compact. Nice stuff.

I like the wider shot, except for his white shirt grabbing some of the attention.

Thanks for the comments!

Mark Pelletier: Thanks!

Deeje: Jip, I've had a gun pointed at me, not nice, luckly this was a controlled situation.

Shooter1911: I took out the bullets in advance Nice thing about a gun like this, who knows
if it's empty, you cannot see all the chambers, so it leaves something for the imagination.

Corkscrew: That is the way the "Skollies (Gangsters)" here handle their guns, they don't care if it's correct or not, they just go for impact.

infinityG35: Jip, safety first.

pmagrawal: I haven't noticed

Benjamin Moore: Thanks!, I'm using the square cropped one as a digital entry in a competition.

JonStafford: Thats also what bothered me with the wider crop, but he's not wearing a shirt, it's the sun falling on he's skin.

Gangbangers here hold the gun in the same manner. Except with only one hand. They don't really care to hold it in the correct manner. As a comedian once said, "we think anything done correctly is gay".

Nice use of limited DOF. Black&white and contrast add "nicely" to the tension of the image.

I have a strong preference for the square crop. To me it gives a much stronger impact. It "contains the suspense". The landscape version is for me actually what it says, a bit "landscapy" and too friendly, with the suspense flowing over his shoulders away, out of the image....

The gun being held incorrectly is actually better and more frightening; the gun in the hands of someone who doesn't fully know how to handle it is far more frightening!

I've had AK-47s pointed at my face by Militiamen in Africa, that is frightening!

I like the landscape image. the image width and the gangsta style orientation of the gun go well together. Just one opinion.

Says Mr. 1911! How do you know it hasn't got one round in it?

This is the best picture I've seen in a while. Living in the the supposed "3rd most dangerous city in America" it kinda summarizes a person's worst fear of what you could turn the corner and find here. I personally have lucked out and never had one pointed in my face like that, but it's still something that that sticks in the back of your head when you go to the store. Great image, sir.
