Great shot Greg! Never realized there was that much detail on the heads of those strikers... just continues to convince me that I need to get a macro lens soon.
I like your subject, the perspective you chose, and the tones. The DOF is nice, too. As a writer I am so drawn to these typewriters! I remember using my grandmother's (wish I knew what she did with it). I do find the very bright highlights competing a bit for my attention with those magnificent metal characters, but it's a very interesting image nevertheless. Good luck!
My grandfather had one of these, too. It was sitting next to the Remington I got out of storage for my entry. The Underwood, however, was in worse shape so I chose the Remington instead. Nearly broke my back bringing it home!
mattha75 & Beverly,
Thank you for your kind comments.
Louis,
Yes, great minds do think alike. I knew when I learned what the assignment was what I wanted to shoot. But I never got around to it over the weekend. Last night after I finished and posted it, I clicked the "view all WA 241 entries" link and saw yours. I thought, "Doh, somebody beat me to it." Had I seen yours first, I probably would have watched "24" instead
I like the Remington very much, good like to you as well.
I too like the sweeping curve on this one. The bright highlights don't bother me at all perhaps because I sort of expected to see them. The strikers are really crisp.
