''Thom Hogan :I'm not sure why. One of the known D3 prototypes did indeed have an 18mp 35FF sensor.''
''Thom Hogan : For example, an 18mp 35FF Nikon prototype certainly exists, and has for perhaps as long as a year. Whether that prototype will be announced tomorrow as a D3 is another matter. I suspect not, as I don't see the peripheral indicators that an important announcement is imminent. Indeed, if a D3 IS announced tomorrow, it would indicate that Nikon changed an aspect of how they announce products.''
Nikon did at least tie Canon on the number of new consumer digicams at PMA (8). And good old Samsung is releasing at least a dozen. http://www.dpreview.com/articles/pma2007/
I doubt a D3 release (which I don't expect, I could be wrong but it would be a departure from Nikon's release habits) would depreciate the D2H at the moment. For what it is, it still stands alone all things considered.
If and when the D3 is released and if it does sport the numbers as rumoured in terms of sensor size and MP I doubt it would make a huge dent in the D2X pricing either. What drives the prices on these cameras is demand and bet you a thousand dollars for everyone here that is thinking with a big D3 release they will pick up a D2X or D2Xs for cheaper, there are thousands others spinning the same gear in their head.
come on guys, don't give up now... we're only half way through the night... I'll get out the guitar, and we can sing coom-buy-ah (or how ever the heck you spell it), and have hot chocolate.... maybe even play truth or dare...
I can only keep one eye open now. I'm looking like a wreck here at work, like I've been drinking too much again ... and the 12 minute drive to here was stressfull - I thought I might miss it! Now I keep refreshing my browser ... I can't take it .... there is ... NOTHING! I want my money back! .... or at least my sanity.
I know! Perhaps if I start a NEW thread on the D3 ... then maybe Nikon will understand how important this is ... and hurry. Yeah, that's it!
