It certainly does. It highlights the fact that it's the only time in Canon's history that they've increased the MSRP of a camera model.
The quoted prices in euros have actually decreased since the 1D3 was announced, and the tax free euro price is now pretty close to the quoted good US price of $4.350. It looks like it is Canon USA who has increased the price, not Canon Japan.
JeanYves Ahern: i do not know all the photo stores?
Jean, I do not know them at all but they seem to be the cheapest at the moment. I mostly buy at B&H but also in Canada (Camera Store and Lozeau in Montreal among other). If I were you I would buy at Aden (in Ontario) to avoid provincial tax
I've paid 4,300 from a local Canon agent, I'd expect the street price to be no more than 300 more.

What a waste of great information in this thread in the FM format ~ all I'm reading now is how it's too long and fellas are not replying clearly, simply adding comments to the thread so it can mean anything ~
There is no speed view, like on DPreview or other forum formats which makes reading a chore, combine that with the slow response form the site at the best of times, maybe this Master thing needs to be reconsidered ~
I'm here only because my post was moved here, I've not looked in here since page three ~~~ and was directed here looking for my recent posts ~

Price overhere is 4149,00 by two mayor retailers. About 3500,00 without tax. With the current exchange rate (1,36) this is about $ 4750,00
Delivery mid June.
That's gotta be one of the dryest, most boring product video I've ever seen. The guys at canon really needs to find someone who has more expression on the face then a couple of glossy eyed blokes that look like they're reciting lines flashed in front of them.

You can find it cheaper than that in Europe if you know where to look.
3.797,00EUR without 15% VAT (Luxembourg VAT) is 3227,45 EUR, and that is around 4,388.14 USD.
And I know at least another store that without VAT it ends up even cheaper, the price is the same but the VAT applied is the German vat, 19%, so 3070EURO in the end +/-.
With the high risk of not beeing read...has anyone seen any comments about how the 1d3 performs regarding long exposure/noise issue? Also i have been trying to find inforamtion regarding the mirror lockup function. Anyone read anything about this beeing improved?
