Can this really be a production model? Seems to good to be true (as is usual for ebay) since Canon UK isn't predicting stock to arrive until mid late April, in the US it seems even longer, some seem to be predicting May.
Even if this is genuine , which looks doubtful , by the time you've added in import duty + VAT + Customs clearance fee and postage the cost is several hundred pounds more than the current UK-quoted price .
Add in the fact that the warranty is NOT valid in the UK and you'ld have to return the camera to Japan if anything goes wrong ; stear clear of this ' bargain ' !
I'm proppably missing something, but please is it possible to achive ultrawide degrees on 1D MK III ? I mean like 16-17mm in 35mm EQ ? Widest FF lens from Canon is 16-35 what is only 21mm EQ on wide end. Is there anything else please ? Thanks

Sorry to rain on the preorder party - but in any reviews, has anyone compared the high ISO shots vs. the 1D2N? The ISO 6400 shots on imaging-resource were really clean - but I'd like to see a 3200 vs a 3200. Or some estimation of the actual number of stops improvement.
you can go here and see/download comparisons with the 1D3
IMO, the D3 show about 1 stop improvement in noise but at the expense of some detail. It looks like ISO 3200 on the D3 is about as noisy as the D2N at 1600, but the N pics are sharper. Apply a little Neat Image and the gap narrows. Need to see some raw comparisons before drawing any conclusions.
How is selling a photographer 2 bodies instead of 3 good for Canon?
This is the scenario I put:
2 x body A @ $6000 = $12000
3 x bodies A, B @ $3000 x 2 + $6000 = $12000
You're the manufacturer. Which is preferable? Think carefully - you don't want to fail 'business 101'... and well done, you guessed it: selling 2 of one type of body can be done much more cheaply than selling 3 of two types of body. Step 3: profit. But like I said, I was playing devil's advocate... :)
Very impressive. I'd like to see a test showing how much of a difference ISO6400 makes to high-frequency details, cause that's where I notice the 5D's noise most at ISO3200. But even still, the absolute noise level is VERY reasonable here. Should be plenty good enough for 8x10's.
I also have to wonder what ISO3200 looks like? It seems most Canon DSLRs show a ton more noise at their highest ISO setting than they do at their second-highest setting. If ISO6400 looks only moderately noisier than ISO3200 on the 5D, does this mean the 1DMk3 might have an ISO3200 that's usable even for large prints?
I'm trying to decide whether to buy a 1D and/or a 70-200 right now... this test makes me wonder if I'd be better off buying a 1DMk2 + 70-200/2.8IS or a 1DMk3 + 70-200/4IS. Hopefully Canon puts some R&D into AF sensors in the future, and eventually gives us high-precision AF at f/4 or slower.

I was told by my dealer that delivery was probable at the end of march. In the past, I received two other new release bodies from him a few days before the announced month of availability.
I expect very soon that hundreds of production cameras will be in the hands of significant end-users and reviewers. The "normal channel" production cameras may have even been shipped by container weeks ago. Although I expect early production gear is shipped by air freight until the channel begins to fill up.

I don't know if this has been posted yet ( I don't have time to read all 50 pages at the moment) but here's a nice hands-on review complete with videos.
That ISO 1600 sample is my first 'wow' comparison for this camera. A few areas show much better tonality in the new camera. Look at how the reflected light on the pepper oil bottle is handled by both cameras.
