I have always subscribed to the theory that you don't want to buy the very first of anything to let the manufacturer get the bugs out of production. When considering modern electronics, automated manufacturing capabilities, and expanded international distribution how long is reasonable to wait?
Henry, my guess is this has been thoroughly tested over the last year beyond it's
300K shutter-life and I'd jump on one tomorrow with no worries. (well, except the Mrs.
and that old "Bobbit" thing)
I have to agree with trenchmonkey, canon is not stupid - sending something like this into the field without testing it very hard first would be close to suicide.. So as soon as I can convince my better half that this is a must, I'm all over it!

Well, being the man of the house I just laid down the law with the wife. Told her that if she bitches too loud I'll sell her and just keep the 20D. One of them is going to have to go to pay for the MkIII and I think I'm being more than fair by giving her the option to choose which it is.
PS. I hope she never reads this or I am so screwed.
I would love to know what the UK release price will be. If it is $3999 US then I can imagine it will be £3999 as usually we can exchange the $ for £. Still that puts it into 1Ds2 territory so maybe around the £3K mark.... I want one but I will wait to see what others think of it first though as mentioned, it would be suicide to release anything in this range that wasn't perfect so I can imagine it will be pretty damn amazing!

Spoken like a real red blooded married man.
"Yes, dear, I'm sorry." "Yes, it was in poor taste." "Ooch, ouch, ooch!" "Yes, you're right, I'm sorry." "Won't happen again." "Ooch, ouch, yes, here's the department store CC." "Yes dear!"
ROFL! I need to remember that as I am in serious lust for this camera (wow, first one since the 20D that I really, really want).
Fortunately I have some leverage: the wife is a frequent and happy subject, and has made the mistake of making nice comments about me busting my tail on the new house while she isn't. "Gee, honey, all is forgiven if I can get the Mk III" Now all I have to do is figure out where to get my hands on $4k without a visit with the local PD. :worried:
