Not bad, but what isn't at ISO100
Good question. But as an SD10 user, I think they just want to show the images at their best. Many Sigma users won't go higher than ISO 200 unless they pixel-bin by shooting at a lower resolution. Personally, I don't get that...but of couse, I also shoot Canons
Full size samples aren't enough? Other manufactuers won't even post a small sample before a camera is officially available, and even then some don't do that (Leica M8). I think they look very good. Great corner sharpness and resolution. They sharpen up nicely in PP.
1) corner softness from wide angle shots (fault of the lens), one of the weaknesses of the SD14 will be it's lens selection. Quality can definitely change lens to lens.
2) detail observed in the portraits/studio shots are really excellent, i'm almost tempted to get one just for that
3) not sure if it's noise, but in the moon picture, it shows up as purple blotches, but otherwise in other pictures it seems well controlled.

Not until they make it so you can put some decent lenses on it.
Agreed. I only have a few M42 mount lenses that I can use on my SD10.
It's funny to think that Sigma makes all these various mounts for their lenses, but doesn't do the same for their DSLRs. I bet they'd sell a lot of SD14/c and SD14/n cameras if they ever made them...probably even more than their potential to sell SA mount cameras. Oh, well...

I'm actually quite impressed. There's a lot of detail in those files, even when up-sizing to rather large formats. Pity about the lens mount. I have nothing against some of the Sigma lenses, it's just that I would like to have a choice, and I have two different mounts already. I wonder why they don't go for 4/3. They already have a crop factor of 1.7, don't they?
Foveon X3 is an brilliant idea, but it lacks of strong support from major manufacturers. I bet the image sensor will eventually being similar to X3 design.
I'm still buying one. And the sample images reflect what I expect and hoped for.
For all those that don't see *any* advantages...I'd dare to call you blind or stupid. And you're probably not blind. It's not perfect but statements like this are also crap: "This is ISO 100 and the shadows and noise are pure crap." So don't buy one...and you'll never know what it's like to work with it.
this shows me nothing! Shows me something...see above about my blind or stupid statement. I doubt you're blind either.
The shadows do look bad. There is ugly noise also in the brown sweater in the portrait of the little girl. The resolution seems good for such a small file, but also nothing really extraordinary.
Are you guys printing these to evaluate? Foveon will look better at 100% on screen - it has higher quality per pixel. But per pixel quality isn't the determinant of print quality.
