I had a run in with the ref this weekend at the okstate-louisiana game. The good is that my 1D is fine but I cann't say the same for the 70-200 is lens. Ouch!!!! Oh man...... it hurts just to look at that picture. Hopefully you can get it fixed. Do you have insurance? I'm really curious what the specific circumstances were for this? It seems odd that the lens broke in half like that.
I do feel your pain and can't help on the service center but look at it this way ,now you have two primes one 70 and one 200 see if larry wan't to buy one.
David I'm sure it can be fixed ,it's more of a matter if they want to and how much money one want to spend on it , verses a new one. please keep us informed on what you find out, I'm sure everyone would be curious.

NJ or CA can repair it for sure, but at what cost? Please keep us informed about the estimate to repair. Looks like it will be substantial. That picture is indeed painfull to look at. I hope you had collision insurance on this lens. Man it looks like it got hit by a truck rather than a ref. Are you OK?

That is less than I was guessing by about $200.00 US. I sure hope it is "right" when you get it back. I still want to throwup when I look at the picture of that lens.
