p.1 #1 · ProShow Gold vs Imaginate 2.0

I've been doing wedding slideshows for family and friends and have been using Imaginate 2.0. I've been hearing several good things about ProShow Gold and was hoping someone had experience with both products to be able to discuss similarities and differences between the programs. Any opinions

i have proshow gold and would suggest you get showit instead. Proshow is good, but has loads of bugs and if people want to see it they have to have the proshow software installed/downloaded. Showit is flash based which most people have.

i'm sure others will be able to offer more opinions though.

I can only say that I use Proshow Gold and like it a lot. I have been able to learn how to use the program for everything I personally want without having to read any manual. There were a few problems that I was having in the beginning but I emailed tech support and got fairly quick responses each time and the problem was fixed.

For it to run well, I would suggest keeping your image count below 150 whenever possible (but I have made shows with 250 images), and also make sure your images are compressed to low res JPEG at 70 DPI.

My my uses it does everything I want, and once you get the hang of it, editing the music can be fairly vertile as well.

I use ProShow Gold for DVD based slide shows, never had any problems with it crashing or running out of steam. However I do pre-prepare my images to DVD size (approx 800x600) so this might help.

For .EXE slideshows I tend to use Pictures2exe

I have not used showit but I think I will try it for web based presentations. I am also looking at soundslides as well which is also Flash based.

cheers

Sean

Proshow is easier. I have used imaginate and could not get used to the layout. Proshow is excellent and simple.
