I've seen many, many posts here and elsewhere declaring the older 28-70 to be sharper than the newer 24-70. One or two members here said they sold their 24-70 in order to go BACK to a 28-70. Photozone's tests seem to support the sharpness of the 28-70 vs. the 24-70 as well.
So ... what's the real story? I'm trying to decide between these two lenses and perhaps save a few bucks by going in the direction of the 28-70 ... but not if I sacrifice IQ in the process. Thanks for any real-world input you can provide.
When I was down in Texas I never did see one of these darn things......But I did go pick some cotton!!!.....Just wanted to know what a real cotton picker felt like!!
Lovely shots, particularly the first. I didn't even realise the roadrunner was a real bird! Thought it was made up for the cartoon - excuse my ignorance but I live in Oz and we certainly don't have them here!

Thanks Amanda. They are peculiar little birds that can be hard to capture on film (at least for me!). They can fly but only seem to for short distances, preferring instead to run everywhere, just like the cartoon.
