I feel FM has helped me tremendously as well in a variety of ways and just want to say thanks. This is a shot of a very endangered Cape Griffon Vulture taken very late in the afternoon. Most amazing experience I have ever had.

I want to post two images in the worst way. Not because I have two that are stellar, but because I want to show you all how far you've all brought me. This forum, and you people, are more valuable than a library full of photography books. Plus, you're a great crowd to get to know as well. Thank you.

Well there are so many great shots I thought I would go off the path a bit and look into my own backyard for my favorite shot of 06' , I posted this shot some time back. The story goes like this: The cats name is Buddy and he loves to bring back prizes most every night, One early morning my wife and I saw buddy playing with something in the yard, tossing it up in the air and pouncing on it. I grabbed my camera and we went out and took this shot real fast, my wife then put on some garden gloves and saved the little guy, he was so scrared looking all wet with the morning dew on the grass. So a happy ending. Don't know if the next day he was a prize or not but we hope he made it!, Ron
Maybe not my favorite, but it is my non-wildlife favorite.
2006 was my first full year on this forum, and what a great experience this has been. Thanks to so many of you for your support, wonderful words of encouragement, humor, laughter and craziness. This has been a great place to be. I've learned so much and it's all because of you.
I always love viewing this thread as each year comes to a close- such inspiration from all. It gets me pumped for the next year!
OK, I am going to cheat as this photo was actually taken Dec. 29, 2005 but didn't make it into last years thread as it was shot so late in the year... anyways I have posted it before, but it is a special shot to me. It has been my first "big" print sale, my first people's choice award in a photo contest and the first image that I have paid to have professionally framed for my own wall I have a lot of shots that I like that I shot in 2006, but none can top this one for me.
I made this photo with my 300D and 400f/5.6 at f/5.6 mounted on a tripod, ISO 400 1/640s and manual/center weighted exposure at 6:15PM in Florida in March. It's my favorite because of the rim light on the juvenile great blue heron's feathers and I like the bird's pose. My favorite photos always tell a story.
All fantastic shots... certianly hard to follow. I bought my first dSLR this spring, and this is from my first serious outing, and remains one of my favorite shots so far.
