Superb Work, guys!
Eventhough I shoot mainly birds, I decided to post a different picture. This family made my day at the Atlanta Zoo where I had to take my nephew, and I hate to go to the Zoos.
Never posted an image here so not sure if it will show the link or the image.
This is the photo i worked the hardest for and was very pleased with the result.
It's a northern hawk owl in silhouette against a full moon.
Spent about 200 hours with the owl before i got a 3 second window where everything came together.

Why oh why did this thread get removed from its stable slot at the top of the list? Hello, there, moderators -- please let this one ride through the end of the year!!!!!!!!!!

First I'd like to say thank you all for such wonderful contributions, I have truly been inspired for some wildlife photography next year.
And then, this is my first post on FM after lurking around for a very long time without creating a user. Actually this one was shot before I got my 70-200/2.8L IS, which means it was taken with my Sigma 24-70/F2.8 EX.
Here goes nothing.
Ah well, here's another one from yesterday while I'm at it. These two are some of my very few so-called "wildlife" shots from the past year. Taken with the 70-200/2.8L IS.
These year end "best of" threads are always such a joy to page through. Excellent stuff, that's for sure. I haven't posted much this year, but I thought I'd still throw out one of my favorites...a couple of playful puffins from Machias Seal Island (off the Maine coast).
I've been enjoying this thread so much, I thought I'd give it a little bump since it isn't stickied at the top anymore. Keep 'em coming! And welcome to all the new posters out there!
Kathy
I don't post here as much as i'd like to. I really want to start and become apart of this forum. I've been looking and chatting slightly for a while and have bought some equipment here. I think this is one of my best this year...i'm getting better. It's a tree frog shot with a 70-200 f/4. Anyone know exactly what type of tree frog this is? I'm in Upstate, NY and it was found nowhere near water. I stumbled upon this guy in the middle of the woods just walking around. I can't believe I spotted him! Thanks for looking!
Everyone's photographs are AMAZING by the way....!!! Absolutely amazing!
Take care!
I'm so blown away by all the images here that I hesitate to show mine, but I have had a good year by my standards, and I have learnt a lot. My main goal this year was to learn how to shoot Hummingbirds, so I have dwelved into multiple wireless flashes, all sorts of lenses and had decent success. This one with a 105mm VR, about 50 cm from the feeder, radio remote, 3 flashes. I took over 50 shots, only one was sharp.....
first of all, this thread, along with the one in the Landscape forum, really show the passion that we have for our photography. i have never had my mouth open in awe of so many pictures. image after image, every single one spectacular.
this time every year we are treated with some of the best work ever to be seen. hopefully one day we can show the world.
Your photos are all fabulous. This is my favorite for 2006, because of the subject matter. This was taken about Easter and these 3 little Purple Finches remeinded me of what Spring is all about, rejuvination.
