Ah, no I hadn't! Thanks a lot! The more I read, the more I lean towards the 75/2, but the trouble is that I am having a hard time letting go of the 80/1.4, with which I have taken some of my very nicest pictures. Argh.
Two things change it a bit: 75 will give the field of view of 100, and f/1.4 will be more like f/1.8, if you factor in that to get the same shot, you must back up. Under these circumstances, I lean towards a Noctilux for portraits. I really need Leica to make a 65mm Lux non-Asph for portraits on the M8....Show more →
Congratulations Marco. Nice image. This was at the (Leica) shop? Am I to infer that these are a selection of glasses Leica has developed for viewing images taken "without" the IR cut filter?
Marco,
My man, you must have used the first newly-born M8 . Good for you and the picture is awesome. I care less about the IR issue.. I am getting more excited now.

Curious about the 50 noctilux. Theres 2 types I know of. E58 and E60. E60 the later one. Anyone know what the differences are between the two?
Wayne
One takes 58mm filters, the other three versions take 60mm filters. Same mount, same optics.
E58 - Takes bayonet on hood
E60 - takes different bayonet on hood
E60 - takes clip on hood
E60 - has built in hood
The hoods for the first three are expensive and rare. My Noctilux is the first version that took E60 filters.
Thank You Joshua and Rob, and all the other Leica people as well. I have not actually gone digital yet. Theres been some really good information on this Alternative Forum, by various people, that the directions toward that slope are very clear I think the noctilux would be a lot of fun. Cannot wait...

Steve great question and your right. This is probably the best i have seen so far and it i pretty damn accurate. i think your seeing a little light from the burgandy shirt bouncing up under the jaw area . The rest is really Jacks color. Cute kid i have to say but his skin does have a little color flucuation so aboce the jaw looks right on the money. I did this in C1 but lowered the kelvin temp around 600 degrees. It seems in overcast i am getting great color on skin tones but sun i am still having the profile issue. Until we get a dead solid profile, it's been tough to get exactly critical color. Scenics hide it but skin tones are a dead giveaway...Show more →
Guy, thank you for the extra information. That's very helpful.
Is anybody else having trouble registering? It won't accept my registration, even with all the fields filled in (including the optional fields) and the "data protection" box checked.

Marco, I also ordered one 46mm and one 60mm. The E46 is for my 28/2 Asph, and the E60 for either a 75 Lux or a Noct, not yet decided.
Carsten,
same here regarding the 60mm: I have the Noctilux, but maybe I could change it for the 75 Summilux down the road.
The 46mm is for the 35/1.4 asph, but again I may consider the 28/2 asph.
The only B+W UV/IR I have now is a 55mm one, for the 21 asph and 24 asph (still deciding whcih to keep).
I'm waiting for another 49mm to use with the 75 Summicron and 135 Apo.
I've got another E46 on the way for my 50 Lux Asph, but it keeps getting pushed back. Now they expect it to come in on Dec. 15th. My M8 also keeps not coming back I hope this week will be the time. My dealer calls them once or twice a week on my behalf, and apparently it has priority and is on the bench, but there are some parts missing. I wonder if there is a production delay due to the parts swap?
I will use my 50 Lux Asph as my portrait lens for a while, and see if I prefer something longer. If I do, I will get the 75 Lux. If not, I will get the 75 Cron, and either the Noct, or if I am broke, the older 50 Lux. The 28/2 Asph is certain, the 135/2.8 is on the way, and the CV15 is already in hand. I just have to sell all the 5D stuff now, but I am hoping to do some comparison testing, so I am delaying and delaying. Eventually I will have to put it up for sale to get a decent price before Christmas though.
I don't know about cameras sent to be adjusted.
Mine was defective but I simply got a new one, indeed one of the first of the "fixed" batch.
Good choice of lenses, the DNG you put up last week was really nice and it wasn't even shot wide open, so I guess the 50 asph would be quite nice for portraits.
The 75 Summilux would be better for more distant framing.
