So the defective unit I had to return doesn't make me eligible for the 30% discount ?
Too bad... without the camera for two/three weeks and now this...
Tomorrow I'll call my dealer, that new TE 16-18-21 at 2k € was too good to be true..
Marco, if you returned the camera and got your money back, maybe you don't qualify. If you didn't get your money back, and are waiting for a replacement, surely you qualify.

Thank you for that info, Carsten. I read about it before but it seemed like that part was taken out in the official Leica's response floating around on the net. We just need to figure out 30% off what price, huh? I am just aftraid that even after 30% off the price may still be higher than one can get on-line from dealers in the Far East...
My dealer sells the 28/2 Asph for 2700 Euro. When he figured out the price for me with discount, he pulled out the Leica price list and found the 2800 Euro though, so it seems that it is off list price, not Hong Kong prices. Not surprisingly.

Thanks Carsten, I did pay mine and didn't get my money back, because I'm waiting for a replacement.
Tomorrow I will know the truth...
Do we have an M8 image thread yet? There's been a lot of back and forth about "show me the images!" so perhaps this would be a good place to do so.
I'll start. This was a grab shot in a cafe with the M8 + 35mm Summicron at f2.0, ISO 640, RAW. There's quite a bit of noise at 640, obtrusive in a "straight" color shot. So, here are 3 variations: the first a B&W conversion (w. no noise reduction, so it's the closest to a "straight" shot, even tho' it's B&W), the second a "hand tinting" technique that I learned on Photoshop TV, the third is the hand tinting technique with a quick selective color applied.
I should mention that these are crops of about 1/3 of the total image area.

Just saw it and posted there. Thanks a million, that is really helpful. Given the large similarity between the two at f/2.0, I am leaning towards the Lux. I was afraid that the Cron would jump ahead at f/2.0 and never lose its edge, but it looks like they are close enough for my purposes.
In other news, I just picked up an as-new CV15 Silver, with both covers, viewfinder, as well as the Leica M adapter, for €288 including shipping. Quite the deal. I wanted the black one, but not for €170 more.
Actually, I have a question: does it normally come with a little leather bag? This one doesn't seem to have it.
Three shots and a crop. M8, 50 Lux Asph. These are test-shots, but only semi-lame. More to come when my M8 returns from focus adjustment and general overhaul, possibly next week.
I got the silver 15 too, bacause it was the only available at that time but I have to say that I like it on the black M8 and R-D1 bodies. It gives the cameras an "old style" look.
No leather bag indeed.
Well, I have a silver M8, so it will look even older. I will have to buy a 28 Elmarit Asph leather bag separately or something. I want it for travelling.
Actually, here is a better question: I would like to have little protective sacks for my various M lenses, but the Leica ones are actually a little on the bulky side (although fantastically protective). Does anyone know of a range of tiny little leather or soft-but-tough material for the M lenses, perhaps something like the nice Nikon lens bags?
Olympus used to do similar bags for their diminutive SLR lenses - most camera shops have boxes of old lenspouches, neck straps etc so it may be worth having a rumage through.
Shame there isn't more bokeh around my eye. I should mis-focus more often when doing self-portraits. I should also learn to keep my eye open while focusing and place my hand better

It doesn't come wih a bag but Steven Gandy at cameraquest has a pouch ($35.00) which has an opening at one end for the lens and at the other end an opening for the viewfinder. Very small and very cleverly done. Steven can be reached at www.cameraquest.com

Here are a couple of quick examples that show that bokeh on the noctilux and 75lux are very similar. These are just a few quick snaps that are just that on a very overcast day. I should've bumped up the iso for a little more sharpness. Nevertheless, taken from the same spot, they give you an idea of the 50mm field of view vs. the 75mm field of view. Both are shot wide open.
If you want contrasting lenses it may be worth looking at the nocti/75cron combination. On the otherhand, if you are looking for a consistent look maybe nocti/75lux would be a good combination. Both are excellent lenses.
