Good shots! Looks like you were shooting on Friday given the cloud-less sky for the F18 demo and the night pyro shots.
I worked at getting some well timed shots of BA's #5 & #6, but either had to crop in on a wide shot or was clipping one of the aircraft off.
I was shooting both a 20D and 1Ds Mk I and the 20D's auto-focus was struggling with only 9 focus points.
Looking forward to next season's show already!
Thanks for the kind words. Your too modest, some great shots on your web page. I traded my 20D in for a used 1D2 just for air shows, can't say I'm crazy about the weight but it really improved focus accuracy and speed even with the slow 100-400.
Afraid this wraps up the air show season for me this year. Like you can't wait till next season.
Hey Rusty - those are real nice. Its great they put on a late evening/night show. I would have gone down there had I realized the weekend was coming - my wife will use any excuse to got to the beach! It just snuck up on me... oh well.
Leo - welcome to the thread - don' beat yourself up too badly, you've got some great captures and like anything else - there is a learning curve if you want to do it well.
For guys like me - I'm so far from the learning curve that Uncle Claude would be proud... ... one day I'll catch on - can't wait till next air season.
Hey all you guys, great work! This is a process of growth, that's the fun of it. Striving for that shot that's better than the last. Stop and think about it, if every shot you took was perfection, you'd get bored and move on to something else. Don't worry about that ever happening though, because even if we reached the nirvana of photographic skill and had every piece of equipment we could possibly desire, weather, backgrounds and a million other variables would still cause you to have great shots and not so great shots.
My experience has been that the fun and excitement is in shooting, striving for that next level, figuring out what the next piece of equipment is (then figuring out how to afford it and ease it into the house un-noticed). How great it is that we have an activity that we're so passionate about and that can take so many forms. And one that has brought us all together!
I thought I would throw up a few Weenie Roast images followed by a favorite capture at GML of a boy giving Dear Old Geraldinea SMACK for good luck ! ! !
I just got an e-mail from two good friends who are scheduling a Mustang check out at Stallion around the 11th of February. If I came down with them, what photo ops do you think we could shake loose? I think it's a 7 day curriculum. We'd fly down in my Buddy Butch's King Air. I might get a couple of hours in Crazy Horse if they would be able to squeeze me in, but otherwise I'd just be shooting.

Jim,
I will pm you my phone number we can talk. I will call Lauderback's brother my friend and see what chances we have in shooting from the OV10 if its ready or I have shot from their T6 before too and one of their pilots has a Bonanza they remove the door from. let me know the name and dates of the mustang training.
Jim did you see this... My 2nd MK3 falls in this range, But I still feel I have a back focus issue. but at least i know my camera has the production line sub mirror fix.
Canon has just updated the issue range, they exempted about 3500 camera serials that are within the range but "post countermeasure."
Probably those blue dot boxes people have received yet with cameras within the serial issue range. I'm sure dealers complained they would be hard to sell.
"Shifting sands reveal World War Two fighter plane lost for 65 years" - UK Daily Mail
It seems a P38 Lighting that has been covered by sand under the beach for ~60 years was finally uncovered by the natural rise and fall of the tides. It's claimed to be the oldest P38 in existence.
