If there are things in long threads you want for future reference, perhaps you should not count on them being unchanged forever. As was found out in the DMR thread, lots of photos disappeared after a few months for various reasons.
If you have the software, printing a pages to pdf files is a good option. Otherwise you can save the page on your hard drive. Since the photos are jpg and not large, the pages do not take much space. There are other programs to download and store web pages as well.
Not wonderful options, but web pages as I have found out many times, you find something interesting on the web today and it is gone the next time you look.
Hi guys,
Posts are automatically deleted when a member is banned from the site.
Banning a member is always unfortunate and it's something that weighs heavily on me. He was warned first and decided to stir controversy and continue with his agenda...
As an administrator, I can't justify bending the rules for anyone even if they are popular or knowledgeable. I can’t have a member calling FM members to a subscription site regardless of the reason.
Thanks for your understanding.
I would like this thread back on track and about "The M8 Bible" and I do not want to lock this thread so, please stay on topic. What happens with membership should be discussed via PM only.
Thanks again!
Fred, where can we, as a group, discuss with you what happened? I feel very poorly about this move, and don't feel that it is proportional to what went on, and would like to discuss it openly, rather than via PMs.
my dealer near Boston (I'm first on the list) says he is getting 2 silvers (only one is spoken for!!!) and no blacks this week, a week or two before the blacks start to arrive (I'll wait).
However, Popflash and a New Orleans dealer claim to be delivering blacks to people, according to posts I've read.
I just talked to my dealer this morning and he said he is getting 22 cameras in tomorrow (Thursday), including a black one for me. I should have it on Friday. This is very exciting.

Even if Sean is a bit shell-shocked from the bad feeling about his site on this forum, I'm not averse to telling you he's published Part 3 of his M8 Review which includes some interesting comparisons, looks at the 6 bit coding, talks about flash and more.
We collectively should be so pleased at Leica's achievement, back where they belong in to the top drawer of photography.
Great job, Sean!
Yes, excellent and invaluably helpful work. I regret that his contribution no longer figures in this thread, which has been tremendously informative to me. And I hope it will not prove too costly. Thanks to all participants. You're killing me, Guy.
I haven't been monitoring this thread for some time and though there seems to have been some turbulence I chime in - in support of Fred Miranda. He draws the line, which is fine with me. It must have been a tough call but I do think it is a just one and in accordance with the forum rules as set out by him. Though Sean Reid will be missed by some it is a thorn in the eye to some that a person is allowed to promote his own paysite on a regular basis in member threads. Though I find SR to be a very thoughtful individual I also find the posting in threads with constant referral to his own paysite for more info bordering to baiting.
Also, there are still an abundance of informative and to FM highly contributive members who are willing to share their wisdom for free which I believe is a good foundation for a no-holds-barred discussion.
BACK ON TRACK:
With the growing numbers of M8's hitting the dealers in droves I am hoping to see some shots posted - right here, right soon. And some input to us who are eager to learn more about what's going on in the alternative digital arena.

I was told by my dealer that he talked with Leica US this morning and they confirmed they have M8s and were begining to ship them to dealers today. That seems to agree with some of the other posts.
I 'm in for a black M8 and the new 28, 2.8 asph. Hope to get it Friday or Saturday. I am still trying to decide on other lenses. I am thinking of the CV 15 just for fun since it is relatively inexpensive. I am in lust for a 50, 1.4 Summilux and a 75 or 90 APO. Those may have to wait unless I find a good deal on a used copy (not likely).
This is good news. I wonder just how big the initial demand is. I did not pre-order and was able to find a dealer that has some coming in that weren't spoke for without much difficulty. I had been on the fence for a while, but the reviews speak for themselves.
I don't necessarily expect this first generation to be perfect, but I do expect Leica stand behind it if there are problems after wide release. It's kinda like buying the first year of a new model car. I have done it more than once, sometimes with issues, but never without a good outcome.
For now, the M8 is the closest thing to a perfect camera for what I want. That's image quality on par or better than my 5D and a small package. It will take some getting use to mentally keeping track of f-stops and all of the other things that come with a mostly manual camera. It has been many years since I have done that, but I am looking forward to it.
