It's becoming more and more painful by the day ... this waiting as we've all gotten lathered up. At least I have the RD-1 to use with my M lenses. All of those lenses sitting there with no camera to use would absolutely drive me up the wall.
I suppose that juggling is probably out of the question? One could put together some fun combinations like all chrome lenses, all black lenses, three most expensive lenses, three least expensive lenses, three summicrons, three summiluxes, add in a bowling ball and a chainsaw and on and on...

You know Guy, you could buy an R-D1 and sell it when the M8 arrives (unless you don't want to by then). You might be very surprised at how good a camera it is. Mepapixels, schmegapixels.... Then you could be using those lenses right now.
Did the RD-1 price come down recently? I looked at the price earlier today and was about half what I remembered it to be......

Try Robert White in the UK. I'm told that they are very good to deal with and the price is good as well, I think. Or...see if someone reputable is selling a used one on RFF.
Received my 135/2.8 and hmm, I think I made a mistake here. The thing is huge, it's a long draw, not a tele (the auction listed it as a tele), and really too big for me I think. So back to searching for a Tele-Elmar 135/4... Oh well, can't win them all. Anyone want my 135/2.8 for $305?

Really Jan, damn i bought one too. . Looks like a book end
Don't underrate this lens! It it exactly the same as the 135/2.8 R and I'm sure you know what that one can do . And yes- the goggles, well they give you full 180 mm equivalent functionality with decent focussing and framing. Don't sell it until you've tried it...
Hehe, yeah maybe you should buy mine and have the world's most expensive bookend pair!
Seriously, I don't feel too bummed about it. It didn't cost me a fortune, and it may have other redeeming qualities (the long draws often have a lovely rendition). Might be fun to spend a day at the zoo with, or something.
Edit: I've actually considered some of the older telyts for the DMR, for how they render OOF areas. I can probably find plenty of uses for a 180/2.8 effective, but it wasn't the use I had in mind... (A small compact lens to hike with, for compressed landscapes.)

In that case get the 3.4/135 apo. best 135 mm lens ever built. Period.

I have one of those, it's crap, never going to use it. Takes too long to get to the camera, and it's ugly IMO.
Of course its ugly..but not if it was your Dad s camera case..next time pay attention
Guy Mancuso wrote: . Seriously i did not spend a lot either and it really should be fun to have around and jaap says it's like the R 135 2.8 which i really liked so this will be fun at the Zoo. It won't be in my bag everyday but nice to have around.
There are a few lenses that are identical between the M and the R system: the 2.0 Summicron, the 1.4/75 Summilux M and 1.4 85 Summilux R are virtually identical, the 2.8/90 Elmarit, the 4.0/100 Macro-Elmarit, the 2.8/135 Tele-Elmarit and the 400 Telyt/560/Telyt in all versions. All other lenses differ.

What does it matter if it was your dad's? I wasn't trying to say you shouldn't keep it, I was just saying that I don't like them very much. Not responding to any particular post, just commenting because the topic came up.
Sean, .... is usually a turn page thing, sometimes an update to a thread at teh end of a page is not visible until the next post, hence you often see, "turn page".
