Would it be easier to reproduce when you create a new layer above this one, fill it with black and change the opacity. (and if you really want you could apply a layer mask to this layer to reveal the origal image)
But this is just a detail, very well done !!
I've never done it to fill ccmpletely with black, but I think it would be more work and I fear you would miss some detail in the shot, even though darker, would reduce the effectivenss of the shot. I also think it would create somewhat of an "aura" effect with brighter backgrounds than shown in this example.
i dont know what was said earlier in this thread, but I would personally like to thank you for taking the time and posting this. It is this type of post that makes this forum great...a true pro sharing his methods in great detail.
I think alot of people have been down on the forum recently for lack of quality of work/photogs (and I am not sure they are wrong), but I must say, this is a step in the right direction for 'rebuilding' the forum.
Thanks Phil! I only wish that I could contribute like this one day. You've just helped hundreds (if not thousands) of photographers with some expert advice.
outstanding work.
I love seeing the sharing of knowledge from pros like yourself, to the hordes of new comers to our hobby/profession!! (to which I am a member)
What happend to being a good photographer? I have said it before and I will say it again. Is someone a good photographer or a good photoshopper? It is getting harder to tell the difference these days.
