Did the AI Servo technology emerge with digital cameras or did Canon have this feature in 35mm cameras as well?

I remember it on my old film bodies, but can't recall exactly when it was implemented... Pretty much with the advent of autofocus lenses came the ability to servo autofocus as well.

I have just checked my old EOS 650 and 600. The 650 does not have the AL servo but the 600 has it already. This camera has been marketed in 1989.

Thanks rich and Wolfgang. Wolfgang that link is great, Canon has really made some great 35mm's. I love that Canon EOS-1N RS.

I had the EOS 620 back in 1987 and it did have 'continuous AF' but the first model to have 'Predictive AI Servo' AF was the 630/600 model in 1989.

Shasta, yes it is. I own an 1N RS and this is definitely one of the tools I'll never get rid of.
