Beautiful job on this one Jane. Such a touching sentiment and so well represented in the composition.

Thanks, Ed. There are so many types of pain, but losing your buddy is one I am not sure one ever recovers from. Blurrs life for sure. My model "hammed it up" for me. I don't think I was too difficult a director, however. It's good to have some time to devote to our shutter fingers again.

This is very powerful. Great image, the treatment also really helps convey the emotion.
Thanks, Scott. I think whenever one is grieving, their whole world becomes a "blur" and it is hard to "see"--present or future. I appreciate the comment!

This is a great shot and nicely processed. Wondering if it was posed or candid (just curious-not critical of it either way), but a great shot either way. Good luck.

Hi Robert. It was posed--I don't think I could have taken it if it had been the "real thing". I would have been crying and not able to press the shutter
Thanks for the comment. And I can use all the luck I can get.

Jane,
Good to see the dynamic duo is back at it.
This is a heavy hitter, for sure, glad it was posed.
You also pushed me to take a darker turn with my entry.

Jane,
Wonderful use of light, texture and a strong take on this weeks assignment.
Great Job!
Tom
Thanks, Tom. I think that this assignment is a toughie for sure. I am glad you liked it. My other idea was a take off on "The Scream"--an abstract interpretation/depiction of pain. This was easier.

This is an outstanding entry. I really love this one. Great job, Jane, goodluck!
Hi Doug, it is good to be back. With a bit more time, I ought to be able to take a jaunt over to you know where and play a bit! Hope you are doing well.

This is my choice this week, Jane. Perfect lighting and the pain expressed is palpable. I don't think I'll have time to do anything this week or maybe even next. (Three of my kids are in the National Horse Vaulting Championships this week and I'm the official photographer for the Vaulting club.) Besides, the topic of "Pain" is so alien to my sensibilities that I just can't think of anything to shoot. Besides you've already won anyhow....
All the best,
Endre

We were wondering where you were, my good friend. Be sure and let us know how your kids do!! If they are anything like their dad, they will all be number one in their respective age categories. Srad, thanks so much for your comment I just wish you could vote over and over again !!

Jane, this is an amazing shot. It definitely conveys the pain one would experience when a soulmate is lost. Well done! Good luck for WA!

I really like the blurring and the tones, they work so well together. It has a real painterly, moody effect, bravo.
Thanks, Suse. I appreciate all of your comments--you are one of the most talented artists on the site. So any input is very very much appreciate. Although I have to admit--the good ones are lots more fun
